For this project at Zeilenmakerspad 3 on the Zaanse Schans, we carried out extensive restoration work on a historic residential property. The work focused on repairing and preserving existing wooden components, with respect for the original construction and appearance.
Many elements of the house were in poor condition. Where possible, components were preserved and repaired locally, and where replacement was necessary, new wooden parts were recreated using traditional methods. Window frames, panelling and façade components were carefully dismantled, repaired or remanufactured in line with the existing level of detail.
The restoration was carried out with attention to the use of materials, dimensions and finish, in keeping with the character of the Zaanse Schans. This approach preserves the historical value of the house, while improving its construction and sustainability for the future.
