Creating a Functional Space within an Industrial Design

Project Information
Project: Industrial/utilitarian breeding ground Centrale Groothandelsmarkt
Location: Communal space, Centrale Groothandelsmarkt 186
Year of completion: 2026
Work: Renovation
Execution: Bram de Aannemer

We have fitted out the kitchenette in an existing commercial space, with the aim of adapting the space for everyday use without compromising its industrial character.

The work involved installing and modifying services, including water, drainage and electrical systems, and fitting a bespoke kitchen unit. Existing pipework has largely been left exposed and, where necessary, modified and extended. Walls have been repaired in places and given a technical finish, without a full finish, so that the existing concrete and services remain visible.

A continuous work and seating area has been created along the façade, making the space suitable not only as a kitchenette but also as a place to spend time and work during the day.

The result is a functional and robust space that complements the existing building. This project demonstrates our experience in creating facilities within industrial environments, with a focus on usability, technical aspects and preserving the existing character.
